Monthly Chanting workshops

Monthly chanting workshops

  • What is mantra chanting and why include it in your regular practice?

Do you enjoy listening to mantra recitation? Are you drawn to chanting yourself? Are you worried where to begin?

Would you like to deepen your yoga and meditation practice with a regular chanting practice? Have you struggled to make this part of your routine? Or do you have a regular practice and are looking for the connection of chanting in community?

If this sounds like you, I invite you to join me on a monthly chanting practice. I will introduce you to a chant every month. We will explore the meaning of the mantra, how to pronounce the words, how to chant using a japa mala (chanting beads), listen to the rich wisdom traditions linked to the chant, the stories that bring the mantra to life and to end the session with all of us chanting together.

To me chanting these sacred verses is an intimate practice. We offer the mantra our praņa (life energy), our awareness, our attention, breathing life into this tradition.

In turn the mantra offers us the praņa of all those who have chanted before us and all those who are chanting with us and those who come after us.

A sacred exchange of praņa across time and space.

Over time, I hope you are able to build a relationship with the mantra and are able to incorporate chanting in your regular practice.

  • Devī celebration (online) - all are welcome

Navarātri - the nine nights of the Goddess. During autumn we come together for 9 nights to celebrate the Goddess - Devī.

This time is considered a potent time to connect with the natural world around us - the playground of Devī. A time to build our connection with her by focussing our prāṇa, our awareness to the wonder of the natural world around us.

For 10 days from Monday 22nd September to Wednesday 1st October at 7 am I invite you to join me online for a 30 min chanting session. (On Sundays we will meet at 8am)

At each session, we begin with a short tale or intention to guide our session. I will share a 10 min hymn to Devī, followed by all of us doing 108 japa (chants) to Devī.

If you were not able to join me for chanting sessions before, this offering is particularly special. This practice is a gentle invitation to connect with the divine creative force within all of us. This is my personal practice and it would be a privilege to share it with you.
